About

I'm Maya, the owner of Woollyak. I quickly became obsessed with crochet during university, and fell in love with the process of creating with my hands. It took me out of my head, offering focus and calm.

I realised crafting wasn't just about making things; it became a powerful way to slow down, reset and reconnect with myself.  My favourite type of crochet is freeform- so enjoy an attempt of a self-portrait using scrap yarn!

Woollyak is a space where individuality, creativity and community collide. A third space where you can come as you are and make what you want in a way that feels right for you. My sentiment has been that I want to create a safe and enjoyable space to craft.

Crafting is always better when shared. Our workshops and socials aren't just about learning skills- they're about building connections, sharing ideas, and creating a warm,. supportive community of makers. Whether you're picking up a hook or needle for the first time, or developing your craft for years, you belong here.

At the heart of it all is our commitment to the use of natural fibres because what we make- and how we make it- matters. There is no 'right' or 'wrong' way to craft- only your way. Every stitch supports a mindful approach to textiles.
