About

I'm Maya, the owner of Woollyak. It all started with a crochet obsession at university that spiralled (quickly) into a full-blown love affair with all things fibre. Today, my practice has evolved into a multidisciplinary studio where tufting, knitting, and crochet collide.

I fell in love with the process of creating with my hands. It took me out of my head, offering focus and calm. I realised crafting wasn't just about making things; it became a powerful way to slow down, reset and reconnect with myself.

I believe that art is better when shared. My workshops are designed to be safe, enjoyable environments where we can build connections, share ideas, and grow a supportive community of makers. Whether you are picking up a tufting gun, a crochet hook, or knitting needles for the first time, you are welcome here.

Woollyak is my studio and a "third space" for the community. It’s a relaxed spot to come as you are and create something that feels right for you.

- Workshops: I run beginner sessions in tufting, crochet, and knitting. They’re about sharing skills, but mostly about building a supportive community of makers.

- Commissions: I’m officially open for bespoke tufting work. If you have an idea for a custom rug or wall piece, I’d love to bring it to life.
